having been married to a husband who claims to want to be a hermit (married for 38 years)……we have few people in our home ….but I have found that I don’t have so much anxiety with a knock at the door since I put up a large “no trespassing ” sign just by the walkway before people can reach our door – – it’s all but eliminated door to door sales people – – – re: the garage clean out , I saw a John Stossel video on utube that explained how inefficient recycling is …..I stopped separating the trash minutia after that – I have two bad knees and a back injury , so the fewer chores I have the better . I have to cook everything we eat from scratch w/ fresh ingredients for health reasons so I cook as much now for our family of three as I did when we were taking care of my mother in our home for 5 years – – – -still would like things to be better but at least still working along – – I use the summer months to toss things and put out things for donation . We’ve eliminated furniture as well . There is no sofa in the house. The full basement is my husband’s at home office/domain , I just try to keep things from creeping up stairs to the main level of this smallish house plus I’m trying to organize my things that were crammed away while my mother was still living w/ us.

I’ve Been listening to your book How to manage your home and not lose your mind. Today was day one of laundry day. There is only two of us and we are retired. Laundry shouldn’t be a problem, but I did all the laundry today. It was quite a few loads. Let’s say. But I washed everything I folded everything and I put it away. No more just piling it on the bed. I plan on sticking with us
