How to Get Dried Up Pancake Batter Off of Your Kitchen Counter – A Tip Normal People Don’t Need

August 11, 2010 By Dana White | 24 Comments

Yesterday, as I was doing the massive clean-up from our Kid-Friendly Freezer Cooking Session, I decided that I should share a little tip. I don't like smelly, chemical-ly cleaners, but often end up having to use them, due to . . . ummm . . . lack of using the less-lethal-stuff when I should. Meaning, if I had wiped up the spilled pancake … [Read more...]

The Dark Side of Freezer Cooking Day: Clean Up

August 10, 2010 By Dana White | 13 Comments

Some people can't go to sleep if their kitchens aren't clean.  I've always felt strangely jealous of them. This is what my kitchen looked like when I went to bed last night . . . . and I slept like a baby. The Dark Side of Freezer Cooking is that while I can throw myself wholeheartedly into playing the character of the energetic, fun, … [Read more...]

Sharpening My Other Senses?

June 24, 2010 By Dana White | 7 Comments

I've heard that if someone loses one of their senses, their other 4 are sharpened. Hmmmm.According to the eye doctors, I have 20/16 vision. However, not one of those doctors has been able to diagnose or treat my Super Selective Slob Vision. But perhaps this type of blindness has helped me develop what hubby calls my Bionic Nose.I have been doing … [Read more...]

Two Steps Back, and One Step Forward

June 20, 2010 By Dana White | 5 Comments

The kitchen. Oh my. I have had a full-fledged, in-my-face reminder of the fact that I am a slob.  A reminder of how a week of minimal/survival effort followed by two days of full-on neglect can create a kitchen worthy of starting a blog called A Slob Comes Clean. Last night, I had the all-too-familiar feeling of frustration come over me as … [Read more...]

Establishing Boundaries . . . Confining the Clutter . . . Whatever You Want to Call It

May 17, 2010 By Dana White | 37 Comments

At a mom's group meeting several years ago I heard a speaker on home organization say that you should make a rule to remove one old thing every time you bring something new into your home. Everyone else nodded knowingly. I had absolutely no concept what she was talking about. I've finally figured out why I didn't get it. In my house at … [Read more...]

Mopping Again . . . Already?

April 15, 2010 By Dana White | 7 Comments

I did something crazy this morning. Even though I have a perfectly good excuse to not do Thursday's task of mopping on the days when I have my Moms' Group meeting at 9 am, I guess I felt reckless and . . . . I mopped anyway. And I was done at 8:45. A.M.!!! And guess what? Even though I mopped last week, ONLY last week, the water . . . was … [Read more...]

Clear Out the Clutter Challenge – Kitchen and Stockpile

April 8, 2010 By Dana White | 10 Comments

Today's area for Money Saving Mom's Clear out the Clutter Challenge is the Kitchen and Stockpile. Although my main focus for today is my post - Garage Sale Tips: From the Girl Who Knows Too Much, I knew that I had to do it. I tend to not want to be on someone else's timetable (on a good day that makes me a free spirit, on a bad one it makes me a … [Read more...]

A Last Dish Effort

March 20, 2010 By Dana White | 8 Comments

Don't worry. I am fully aware of the complete cheesiness of that post title. It's Spring Break. We were out of town for three days. Hubby and the kids are all home. I haven't cooked a "real meal" at home all week. All routine is out the window. So, this morning, I had to dig around to find the last three clean coffee cups we had so that my … [Read more...]

Supper in a Hurry – Quesadillas

February 10, 2010 By Dana White | 8 Comments

Crazy day today. I've swept the kitchen, and that's about it. I have to say that I'm thankful for a 3yo little girl who happily says "Sure!" when I ask if she can make it to one more store before her nap time. My oldest would act like it was child abuse if I asked him that question. On a crazy day, it's nice to be able to get a quick supper on … [Read more...]
